We tried it: REENCLE home composter

A few months ago, you could read that we tested the SAGE electric composting machine in more detail. From that article, it turned out that the device does not actually make real compost, but so-called organic waste, which must be allowed to rest and mixed with soil in order to be able to utilize it.

What would they say if we said: there is already a device that makes immediately usable compost from kitchen waste? Well, we are very happy to announce that the world first, which makes this process even easier, is now available in Hungary!

REENCLE: the real composter

We have been testing it under real conditions in our own kitchen for about three weeks, and the machine exceeded our expectations in every respect. First of all, it works completely without sound, you could even sleep next to it. And secondly - because it breaks down vegetables and fruits quickly - the giant 14-liter container fills up very slowly, in our case it took three weeks before it had to be emptied for the first time.

But how does it work?

The operation of the REENCLE compost machine is very simple, it continuously rotates the kitchen waste placed inside with a large mixing paddle. It contains microorganisms that slowly break down organic materials, so they turn into compost quite quickly (the manufacturer says 2-24 hours, but in reality it should be more like 12-24 hours). The finished material can be used immediately to improve the soil of our plants.

The most important part of the use is that when the container is full, we do not take out all the compost, but at most half of it. In this way, most of the microorganisms remain and can continue to reproduce, processing more and more kitchen scraps.

What can we put in this indoor composter?

Basically, all decomposable kitchen waste: we mainly put fruit, vegetable and egg shells, leftover ready meals (meat, cheese, fish bones, bread) and coffee grounds into it, in addition we also included flowers and plants that were withered or cut(except for sick plants ).

But mostly the raw materials used for baking and cooking and the leftover food were poured into the container, in the following picture you can see the dry matter content of a pea soup, for example.

It is important to note that this device does not shred, so it is worth chopping up the waste to some extent before inserting it. You don't have to think about big things, but for example, the peel of a lemon should not go in whole, but cut in half so that it can be broken down more easily. In the same way, pay attention to the proportions, meat and fish leftovers can go in, but compared to the contents of the entire container, there should be very little of such materials, so that the usability of the finished compost is also optimal.

If you follow these basic and simple rules, you will get nice dry and nutrient-rich compost that is ready to use, that is, you can sprinkle it on the soil of plants or mix it with soil to plant a new plant. In fact, this is its biggest advantage, even compared to outdoor composting - no further cultivation is required, and it cannot be spoiled.

If the container is not completely emptied, but always taken out of the finished compost, the microorganisms will work indefinitely, meaning there is no need to purchase the starter culture again.

Better than other indoor composting solutions?

Advantages compared to the SAGE electric composter:

  1. compost that can be used immediately is made, it does not need to be left to rest, mixed with soil, etc.
  2. much larger tank (14 liters instead of 2 liters) which fills up very slowly
  3. silent operation.

Advantages compared to non-electric composters

  1. there is no need to purchase the starter culture containing the microorganisms required for decomposition over and over again
  2. odorless
  3. no liquid is formed, dry compost is produced

Is this method better than traditional outdoor composting?

It is clear that the majority of people do not have the opportunity to compost in their garden, either because they do not have a garden or because they do not have the knowledge/energy. Anyone who composts in their garden knows exactly that the compost pile must be constantly taken care of, aired, turned over, in short, it cannot be left alone. We will not go out to the garden several times a day with the waste destined for the composter, sprinkle soil over it each time, etc.

The REENCLE home composting machine, on the other hand, does not take up much space, is close at hand in the kitchen and produces properly processed, ready-to-use compost. Therefore, we recommend it even to those who have a garden, but do not have the desire or energy for the tedious work of composting..

Summary

Based on our experience, the REENCLE composter is much better suited to our daily use needs than a similar machine from SAGE. Primarily because its 14-liter container does not have to be emptied constantly, as we bake and cook, everything goes in continuously, collapses and mixes, all quietly and without smell. The other reason is that we get compost that can be used immediately after processing.

We therefore highly recommend this electric composting machine to everyone. Order the device today and within a few days you will see what a huge help it provides in the kitchen!

And if you have any questions about home composting or the device, feel free to write, our Customer Service will answer all inquiries!
