The soul of summer: grilling and cooking in cauldron

 

Cauldron

Few people know that the word cauldron originates from the Ottoman-Turkish word bakraç, which meant copper. It is interesting that earthenware cauldrons were already used in ancient times. In the 15th century, versions made of copper and iron became widespread, and cast iron cauldrons have existed since the 18th century. One of the most common versions today, the enameled cauldron, is only an invention of the 20th century.

Of course, there are several versions not only in terms of material, but also in terms of shape. Since the cauldron is an open fire cooking vessel, it must be hung up, which is made possible by its handle.

In terms of size, we hardly know the impossible or the limits: from the very small, table serving cauldron, to the record-sized versions, we can meet all sizes.

 

One-course meals are typically dishes that you can make in a cauldron. For example the stews, goulash soup and fish soup.

Although the essence of cooking in cauldron is that the food is cooked over an open fire, it can also be done with gas stove!

Grilling

Fortunately, human imagination knows no bounds when it comes to what can be prepared and eaten. It is no different in relation to grilling: various cheeses, vegetables (and fruits) cut to the right size, hamburger meat, traditional and flavored hot dogs and sausages, marinated fish and meat can also be grilled.

It also adds to the experience if you use professional tools: the spatula, the electricthe gas or charcoal grill will all help you.

And what about the barbeque?

When we think of summer, we associate countless forms of recreation: beach or Balaton holidays, romantic wine drinking under the starry sky, festivals, grilling over a campfire. 

We are always looking for novelty and variety. 

And for this, we are often inspired by movies - let's face it, mostly American movies.

This is also the reason why barbeque, already well-known from Hollywood movies, started its conquest in our country as well. It is a common misconception that barbeque and grilling are one and the same.
